Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Anyone remember the Shamrock Shake at McDonald's?
As kids we'd always beg my parents to take us to McDonalds when they had Shamrock Shakes.

I googled them & found out they still sell them in some markets.
I haven't been to a McDonald's (in the USA) for years, but I doubt they have Shamrock Shakes in SLC (not a big enough market).

I remember one St. Patrick's Day I dyed the milk green & my brother freaked out & wouldn't drink it. My mom wasn't happy even though she knew it still tasted the same. Not quite the same as dying the beer or the Chicago River green, but I thought it was a fun way to celebrate.

So, even though the Irish Catholic Bishops changed the day of celebration to Saturday, the 15th this year (as to not interfere with the Holy Week before Easter), Happy St Paddy's Day to you.

Here's a little St. Patrick's day quiz for you.

Here's a clip from an old favorite,
Darby O'Gill and The Little People:

and a bonus one with Sean Connery!

  1. I was never a big "mint" in my milkshake guy. If it had been green but tasted like chocolate then I would have been all over that. I am a huge fan of Green Eggs and Ham though!

  2. Shamrock Shakes: McDonalds on 33rd South and I-215 by REI. I went there specifically for one this weekend.

  3. hmmm, maybe they should advertise better. oh well, I'm with Dave, I'd rather have a green shake that tasted like chocolate LOL. Although I really did love shamrock shakes as a kid.
oooh, or maybe a chocolate shake with thin mints in it. now, that sounds good.
