"The World is a Book, and Those Who Do Not Travel, Read Only One Page." - Saint Augustine

Let's see, what's happened since Halloween?
Angela & Jack were here. He's been sick & it got worse....she took him to the Dr again after she got back home & found out he has RSV (SCARY!). Luckily he still has 90% lung capacity, so it isn't super scary bad. But it's not good. My theory is he got it from breathing the nasty air on the airplanes....or from someone in the airport.
I hope he gets better quickly! Ang posted some cute pics of him while he was here on her blog (here and here).

I've been reading a lot. I seem to go through phases when I find good books.
One of the reasons I like reading has to do with the title quote of my post. I love to travel...to learn, experience, appreciate, grow...and, as my 9th grade english teacher said a million times a day, "so to", is the reason I enjoy reading. ...to understand other perspectives, travel places I haven't been...real or imaginary, and to learn. (not sure how much learning I did through these books, but with other books it's more probable.)

I read the Twilight series (there's 3 so far) in just over a week. (I'm generally a slow reader, so I surprised myself at how quickly I read these books.)I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed these books. (I was even more surprised that I bought them to begin with!) I had heard about them, but thought "whatever, people are just reading them because she's a BYU grad....they're probably not that good". Well, I'm eating my words, because they really were good. Quick easy reading, story about a high school girl, but the emotion Stephenie Meyer put into these books was incredible. I loved that it was set in the northwest. Looking forward to the 4th book next fall.

I also bought the latest Nicholas Sparks book, The Choice, when I bought Twilight. I finished it last night. His books are also pretty quick reads, romantic stories set in the south (makes you want to move to North Carolina or equivalent...the beauty of the south east is so classic...think Rhett & Scarlett).

Sometimes I find myself thinking "why'd he have to ruin such a perfect love story with that". Well, I guess that makes it more like real life. No one really lives happily ever after with no trials in their lives. And hopefully the trials strengthen their love.

So there you have it....my little book review.
These easy reads have been fun. There are a couple more Nicholas Sparks books I want to read, but after that I want to read something with more substance.

  3. They're NOT scary. a little suspenseful in a few places, but not scary or bloody. It's more or less just a story about a high school girl who happens to fall in love with a vampire & their struggles because he has to resist the urge to kill her all the time.

  4. I've read them all and loved them all. Annie is obsessed with the Twilight books. I think she's read Twilight 3 times! I'm just starting Mt. Vernon Love Story for the second time. (I almost always re-read my favorites a few years later) It's really a great book about George & Martha Washington.
    Love your Blog!
