I almost titled this post "oh the places you'll go" but thought that was a bit too much.
This probably sounds so selfish, but as much as I miss feeling like I'm making a difference in the world at work, I love the perk of traveling with my job.
Luckily there are other ways I can "change the world" or at least make life better for one person at a time.
We've been finalizing things for Costa Rica, getting names of those going to China & looking at all of our options for 2008. I can't wait! We're thinking of 2 cruises in 2008 since we'll have done 3 land trips in a row. I think I'm most excited about the possibility of doing an eastern Canada cruise with a stop in Boston, round trip from NYC. We could spend extra time in the city, see a show, FINALLY go to the Manhattan Temple, go to a yankee's game since they won't be playing in "The House That Ruth Built" much longer. Shoot, if we could stay over a Sunday, I would LOVE to go up & attend church in the Stamford ward. I know it's been a LONG time, but there are still a few familiar faces up there & just to feel the spirit of the ward would be refreshing. Another amazing part of that trip would be the opportunity to spend some time with Mom's family in Canada. It wouldn't be a lot of time, but we're at each port for about 8hrs or so.
Ang wants to do another Hawaii cruise. I loved that one WAY more than I thought I would. Tommy hasn't been to Hawaii, so Ang wants to take him. Everyone wants to go to China in September. Ang & Tommy will bring the baby. This kid will be fueling it's travel genes from the get-go! I hope they don't have any problems getting it's passport on time. It will only be 2 months old when we leave.
Aaron, Tasha, mom & I were talking about Tasha wanting to go on a church history trip when she graduates. That got us all excited too! We haven't been to those places in over 15 years. (so sad!) We couldn't do that as a work trip LOL, so we'd have to plan it within dad's schedule. Hopefully that will be ok with Tasha. I talk like she's part of the family. Well, she almost is & I think she will be soon.
One of our clients has offices all over the world & they asked us if we could do training in Mexico. How cool would that be?! I think it there's a good chance of it happening since their employees are required to speak english & if needed, I'm sure at least one of them could translate. Of course I would HAVE to go!
I was looking at different Spanish programs in Costa Rica & Guatemala. They're not THAT expensive considering the benefit. Many of them allow you to live with a host family & do volunteer work while you're there. I would LOVE to do that!!! They say after 3 months you can be fluent. I don't think I could take off for 3 months straight, but I think even 2 weeks would really help. I found a couple podcasts on itunes that supposedly teach you spanish. I need to sit down & listen to a few of them to see if there are any worth subscribing to. I need to brush up before Costa Rica since I'll kind of be on my own. Enough about that though.
