It's no secret

Growing up I listened to enough Barry Manilow (thanks to my mom) that I think I'm officially a Fanilow. BUT, I'm not crazy (when my mom and I had 3rd row floor seats at his concert in PHX - which was amazing - we sat behind some seriously obsessed women who needed therapy. I think Barry was scared of them - I was!).

Anyway, Barry's Greatest Hits of the 80's cd comes out next week, so I took a look at the songs on it & I have to say, it's not what my greatest hits of the 80's would look like, but it will still be worth buying.

I mean really, how can I pass up Barry Manilow singing Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting For You" (which honestly might make my greatest hits of the 80's list), WHAM's "Careless Whisper", or Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time"? So I'm a dork, whatever. It could be worse.

And to my fellow Fanilow's (I won't rat you out, but you know who you are) - Barry is going to be on QVC Thursday 11/20 from 6-7pm MST singing songs off the cd, and Friday 11/28 on the Today Show.

Just another reminder that I have to get down to Vegas & see his show...
I wonder if there's any way he'd sing "Once In Love With Amy"? ;-)

  1. I'm not sre I'm going to rush right out and pick this one up, I nevr was a fan of Barry. I do have to say I find the Manilow obsession disturbing so in good faith I did a little research and came up with this web site for you:

    Just on the safe side.

  3. I would LOVE to hear him sing "Once in love with Amy"---but only if you were able to be on stage with him when he sang it!!!

  4. I'm a Fanilow because of your mom too! I've seen him twice and loved both concerts. One on the third row and one up in nose-bleed heaven. My kids die when he comes on and I know all the words! I don't know all of his songs but my favorites are forever burned into my brain. And may I add to this post...GO COUGARS!!

  5. Touche with the Michael Bubble Boy comment however I have been assured by the witch doctor I hired that after sacrificing a bucket of KFC extra crispy to the forst homeless person I meet that he will be sucked into another demention to replace himself there but will be ugly to all the women there. Revenge for all the long car trips with only him to listen too.

  7. I do like Barry Manilow. How can you not love CocoCabana or I can't smile without you - BUT I have to say his 80's CD is probably the worst and most painful CD's I have ever listened to in my life. They played it on the radio and I was dying it was so bad. The Islands in the Stream was just plain awful and the others - I just could not handle it. I think he needs to stick with what he knows best and not do 80's covers EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

  8. Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't bought it yet - so I probably wont.
itunes is great because if there are 1 or 2 songs worth buying, I don't have to buy the whole album.
