Warrior Moms

I wish I would have seen Oprah yesterday - I heard it was about Warrior Moms.
But I was helping my own warrior mom after surgery to remove part of her colon due to colon cancer. I'm actually sitting in her hospital room right now, proud of what a warrior she is. She told me yesterday how weird it felt to have us doing so much for her - it made her feel helpless. I told her I couldn't imagine not being here, caring for her after 35 years of her caring for me to one degree or another, and that instead of feeling helpless, to focus on how much we love her and to know we (my siblings, dad & I) would do anything for her. It hurt to see how much pain she was in before the nurses got her pain meds right & knowing I couldn't do much more than hold her hand, made me feel helpless. Seeing her strength as she is fighting cancer & yet she still wants to be the strong mother & wife that she is, makes me proud & my love for her has grown stronger than I ever thought possible. We all fight battles & we are all warriors in our own right throughout our lives, but my "Warrior" mom is about as amazing as moms get :-)

  5. She is not only a warrior mom she's my warrior sister. When I grow up I want to be just like my big sister Peggy! Amy you are amazing! I want to thank you but I know you are all doing exactly what you want to be doing and don't expect thanks for it. But I do love you all and I'm so glad she has been blessed with such a supportive husband and kids.
