A few Costa Rica Pics (March 14-21, 2007)

Early morning view of Arenal volcano out my front door

(I focused on the vegetation instead of the volcano) Check out how green & colorful everything is....um, it was nearing the end of the dry season, so this is after months of very little rain.

My cute rustic cabin. Nestled at the bottom of the Volcano (ok, not RIGHT at the bottom, but pretty darn close)

The beach at Manuel Antonio National Park. Ponce de Leon discovered Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. This national park is home to 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. Although we only saw a handful since most of them live in the tops of the trees & most of the mammals are nocturnal.

My weak attempt at nature photography. Actually, I was lucky to get this pic since the butterfly kept flying away. I took 2 other pics before this one that turned out worse & then it flew away.

On the way back from our canopy tour (aka zipline through the rainforest) we came upon these overly friendly Pisotes. Our driver stopped & let us take pics & feed them. He said they are always along the road because they know the tourists will stop and feed them. They ate out of our hands (WAY TOO friendly for wild animals) They were pretty cute..a little like racoons, but the end of their noses looked like a pig snout.
