Before Christmas, I was at walmart & saw the DVD Stardust. I had never heard of it before (not sure why....although I think it's due to the fact that I watch 99% of TV via my DVR - thus fast forwarding through the commercials).Anyway, I read the back of the case & saw it got 2 thumbs up & decided to buy it. I finally watched it last night. I almost watched it again today....it was that good. Apparently people are comparing it to The Princess Bride. I'm not sure about that. It is however, a very cute fairytale.
I was imdbing (can I use it as a verb?..it's kinda like google & googling, right?) the guy that plays the young father in the beginning of the movie...mostly because I thought he was way cuter than the main character & was wondering what else he'd been in. Well, he (Ben Barnes) hasn't been in anything I knew him from, but he IS playing Prince Caspian in the new Chronicles of Narnia movie that is coming out in 2008.
Off to the side of the Prince Caspian trailer, was a link to the trailer for Mamma Mia! I'm not sure how I feel about Meryl Streep playing the mom, but I'm hoping this musical will be as good as ones like Hairspray, Dreamgirls, Rent, The Producers, etc. I love the Broadway musical version!
Speaking of musicals,I REALLY want to see Sweeney Todd
....but reviews say it's rated R for good reason - lots of blood & gore.
Too bad.
I wonder how long until it will be on TV, with most of the blood & gore edited out.
